Dear Readers,
Recently it was decided that users of Map Creator should now be able to also correct the geometry of roads of a higher level. As you know, the geometry of those roads was “protected” for a long time, which means that the user was not able to perform any geometry adjustments in the past. The roads with the former protected road status refer to a specific set of additional navigational attributes in our Core Map, called ADAS. Please remember that we have recently published an article about ADAS.
As a consequence, the quick display “Protected Roads” has been removed.
Same as for local/residential streets you are now able to just pick a shape point on the stretch of a link (red circle or black dot), a node at the start or end of a link or even the node at an intersection with another street (red rhombus) and move the adjacent geometry. When you pick a shape point or a node the mouse pointer becomes a cross:
If you are curious which roads have the ADAS attributes in our Core Map – even without the quick display now – you find it out via the “A-“symbol at the top of the attribute window next to “Road attributes” .
It is good to know that the entire package of ADAS attributes is very complex and very important for high end navigation systems. Therefore, every single geometry edit on these roads in Map Creator has to be checked very carefully and in detail by the Moderation Team, according to the HERE database specifications for geometry.
